The scary little thing.
Mind is a strange thing! Its susceptible to so much fear. Fear of darkness, Fear of getting lost, Fear of getting wet, the list is endless.
'Annelida Hirudinea Rhynchobdellae' is one such fear inducer. The tiny little thing called 'Leech'. Effectively induces the 'Fear of losing blood'.
One short walk in a rain forest amidst monsoons, we are sure to be attacked.
Modus operendi of the attack.
1. Leeches are a perfect example of an almost perfect camouflage. They are practically invisible in their habitat.
2. They skillfully attach themselves to your skin, un noticed.
3. They secrete a descent amount of anesthetics on your skin.
4. Blissfully suck blood. God Damn it, it does'nt stop sucking at all !!
Bottom line, a leech attack does not hurt.
Yet, the moment we see a leech hooked on, we experience a sudden surge of fear, restless ness, confusion and panic. I would say we react in the same way as we would when we see a snake at one's foot.
We are so very scared that we can't think. We cannot effectively de attach it, as we are afraid to touch it.
I find it mysterious, how all the strength and valor in us can get sublimed from one puny leech.
